Installation Of Your Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 To Microsoft Exchange Server

Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 installs nicely into a clustered environment with Microsoft Exchange Server. If you want to reduce your downtime choose a cluster of Microsoft Exchange servers because it can offer up another server should one of the servers fail.

When you are doing an installation be sure to follow the instructions in the CRM 3.0 Implementation Guide which will lead you through not only the install as well as the configuration, and then it will show you how to verify the operation on Microsoft Windows Server 200, Microsoft Windows 2003, Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 2005, as well as Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services 2000 and 2005.
Of course your project will need to start with the creation of a Microsoft Exchange Server cluster. If you have not done this before you have a couple of choices. If you are lucky enough to have an IT staff it will become their project. If you are going to install the Email router you will need to install it on every exchange node in the cluster and then specify a CRM mailbox which is located on the virtual exchange server.
You will have to open the Services Control Panel on each node in the cluster and stop the MSCRMExchRouterService and then set the Startup to Manual. Now open the Active Directory Users & Computers and locate the GUID and deploy. Then add the computer accounts for each exchange cluster node. Close the Active Directory Users & Computers. In each Microsoft CRM use the Rule Deployment Wizard to create a rule for the user’s mailbox which will be automatically forwarded to the specified Microsoft CRM.
